3 V’s—Vitality, Vim, and Vigor for Life

Vitalidad y Vigor para la Vida

  has provided education, motivation, and opportunities to encourage children,   

  youth, and adult minorities to change their lifestyles by adopting healthful eating

  behaviors, engaging in regular physical activity, and adopting behavioral

  strategies for a healthier lifestyle through four major components: 

Health Parties

Family and friends together in homes, churches, parks, and friendly places for health and nutrition lessons presented by trained lay leaders.  Incentives are provided to include snacks and hostess gifts.

 Fitness In Training (FIT) Teams

Groups of friends and family organized for regular physical activity, selected for convenience, level of activity and safety, and are monitored by a FIT Team coach.  Walking, biking, family activities, etc.

 Professional Counseling—Healthier You

Individually adapted health awareness counseling/coaching following the “Healthier You” curriculum developed by the 3 V’s for Life program.

 Community Health Celebration

A large community event including agencies, organizations, churches and community businesses, which promote healthier lifestyles for families and individuals.  “Passports to health” require at-risk families to participate in ­­­health lessons and resource presentations for prizes and free groceries.
