Hand In Hand Multicultural Center has extended its services to the people of Springfield, Southwest Missouri and beyond since January, 2000. The Center began in a corner of the founder’s home. This grassroots “office” provided room for English classes, a “small” counseling center, tutoring classes, and medical mission trip planning. With an ALL-volunteer staff, operations and services began with no checking account or finances, few resources to share with others, but a GREAT DESIRE to provide sensitive, caring, professional services to the general population as well as the unreached and disadvantaged families struggling with language barriers, financial needs, physical health, spiritual needs, mental health, and emotional needs.
Since the beginning more than 500,000 families and individuals have benefited from professional counseling and mental health services, health education workshops, language classes, financial education workshops, and translation and interpreting services provided at low or no cost. Funding is provided through grants, private donations, and partnerships with local organizations. All services relate to teaching families to make healthier choices for healthier lifestyles.
After these many years the growth and contributions of Hand in Hand are visible in the community. Hand In Hand Multicultural Center is recognized as an organization with the capability of reaching and serving all of the community, from the well-established families who have the advantage of working and living in the community for years, to those ethnic minorities and disadvantaged populations. The Center has the reputation of being friendly and professional, working “Hand In Hand” in all of the community.
Thousands of lives have been touched and reached with a message of hope, faith, and love. Join us in reaching the unreached and serving the unserved.
